Dartmouth Lightweights Win Two Cups on Weekend

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth lightweight varsity eight won both the Durand Cup against Yale and the Subin Cup versus Columbia this past weekend.

On Saturday, Yale won four of five races against Dartmouth, but the Big Green varsity came up big to bring home the hardware in the race for the Durand Cup. The teams raced with flat water and a mild headwind on the Housatonic River

In the varsity eight race, Dartmouth crossed first in a time of 5:38.8 ahead of Yale in 5:41.5. The second varsity race went to the Bulldogs in a time of 5:50.8 with Dartmouth taking second in 5:56.0. Yale also won the novice eight with a time of 5:56.8 ahead of Dartmouth in 6:02.5. On Sunday the Big Green was at home in Hanover to face Columbia for the Subin Cup in calm conditions on the Connecticut River. Dartmouth again came away with a varsity eight win in a time of 5:29.8 ahead of Columbia in 5:39.4. The Big Green also won the second varsity eight race in 5:37.1, well ahead of the Lions in 5:51.5. Columbia took the freshmen eight however, crossing in 5:28.5 to the Big Green's time of 5:33.0.
