FOLSOM, Calif. - Competition at the 2026 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship concluded Sunday, as the Big Green finished two more races, earning themselves a spot on the podium.
Â
Dartmouth posted 40.5 total points to finish third overall amongst the 10 teams.
Â
The 2V kicked off competition on Sunday, racing in the second final. The Big Green finished in 6:06.11 to wrap their championship with a sixth-place finish.
Â
In the premier event, the 1V final, Dartmouth looked to continue momentum from its Eastern Sprints bronze medal just two weeks ago. The Big Green did just that, crossing the finish line in 5:50.339 to claim the bronze.
Â
Dartmouth finished just over three seconds out of first place and won the final medal by 1.587 seconds over fourth place Cornell. The Big Green earn their first medal at the IRA National Championship since 2012, a feat they also just reached at Eastern Sprints.
"It was a great day for the D150s. Both eights making the final was a huge accomplishment," Head Coach
Trevor Michelson said. "The varsity eight winning a bronze medal was a testament to how hard this team worked and believed in themselves all year, and the team finishing third in the country was the cherry on top! "

Lightweight rowing's 40.5 total points at this year's National Championship secures third overall for the Big Green, their second straight IRA podium finish after earning second in 2025.
