WORCESTER, Mass. – The Big Green kicked off their championship season at Eastern Sprints, Sunday, racing on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester. Dartmouth lightweight rowing competed in five total races, earning four podium finishes, two coming in grand finals.

The Big Green started the day with the 2V race, as Dartmouth posted its first podium finish of the day. It claimed third overall in the second heat with a time of 5:56.67. The Big Green followed with a sixth-place finish in the grand final, finishing in 6:10.29.

In the Varsity Eight race, the Big Green rowed to podium finishes in both the heat and grand final. In the first heat, Dartmouth posted a time of 5:50.26 to earn a spot on the podium and secure its place in the grand final.

In the grand finale, Dartmouth finished in 5:51.83, also good for third place overall.

Lightweight rowing wrapped the day with the Varsity Four race, as the Big Green once again found their way onto the podium. Dartmouth finished in 7:15.71, just 1.7 seconds behind second place MIT.

The Big Green will be back in action next weekend, competing in the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship, held in Sacramento. The championship regatta will begin on Friday, May 29 with sailing also taking place on Saturday, May 30 before concluding on Sunday, May 30.
