HANOVER, N.H. – This past Saturday, the Dartmouth lightweight rowing team hosted its first regatta of the spring season, welcoming the Yale Bulldogs to Hanover for the Durand Cup.
Â
The Big Green had won the past two Durand Cups, breaking a more than 10-year drought when they took home the win in 2024, but Yale broke the streak to win this year's event.
Â
The Varsity 4 race was first, as Yale's two boats took the top two spots. The Big Green finished the 4+ race in 5:54.7.
Â
Dartmouth took home the win in the 2V race, defeating the Bulldogs by 2.3 seconds, finishing in 5:05.9.
Â
The 1V race was delayed for about an hour, after Yale needed to repair its damaged boat due to an incident in the warm-up. The Bulldogs went on to defeat the Big Green as Dartmouth crossed the finish line in 5:02.8, 1.1 seconds behind Yale.
Â
The Big Green will be back in action this weekend, when they host Cornell for another regatta on the Connecticut River. More information on start times and results will be available on DartmouthSports.com.
