BLOOMINGTON, IND. — The Dartmouth men's track and field team had two athletes compete on day two of the NCAA East Regional on Friday at Bloomington, Ind.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Phil Royer (Portsmouth, R.I.) looked to advance to the NCAA Championship. The race consisted of three heats with the top three finishers in each heat qualifying along with the next three fastest times. Royer finished 32nd with a time of 9:07.90. The 12th qualifier was Andy Weatherford of Indiana at 8:46.62.
Senior David Irving (Manchester, N.H.) competed in the hammer throw with the top 12 finishers advancing to the NCAA meet. Irving took 28th at 57.51 meters (188-08.00 feet). Matt Pfleger of Kent State was the 12th and final qualifier with a throw of 61.47 meters (201-08.00 feet).
