vs UNH Day 1 (EISA Championship)

There might not be much snow on the ground in the Upper Valley but the Dartmouth ski teams are finding success wherever they find snow. Senior Nordic skier Sophie Caldwell won top medal honors in the 5K Classic this past weekend at Vermont. Sophomore Ben Morse won his first collegiate alpine victory also at Vermont. Their efforts have earned them the honor of DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Sophie Caldwell (Peru, Vt.), Sr. Nordic Skiing
Ben Morse (Carrabassett Valley, Maine), So. Alpine Skiing
Ben Morse (Carrabassett Valley, Maine) earned his first collegiate victory this past weekend, posting the fastest time for his two runs in the giant slalom at the UVM Carnival. His first run paced the field of more than 60 skiers, then came back with the third-best time on the second run, allowing him to hold off a Vermont skier by nearly half a second with a combined time of 2:05.13. On Saturday, he picked up where he left off, placing second in the slalom in 1:44.43, helping the men place second in the event and lift Dartmouth to its first carnival victory of the year.
