PISCATAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Dartmouth women's golf team is currently tied with Penn in sixth place after the first day of competition at the 17-team Rutgers Invitational at the Rutgers University Golf Course. The conditions for Friday were fall-like, as the Big Green shot a team score of 321.
The 90-player invitational is being held at the RU Golf Course, a par 71, 6,041-yard course.
Rutgers entered the clubhouse with the team lead carding a 300. Saint Francis (Pa.) sits in second place with a 306 and fellow NEC members Long Island and Central Connecticut are right behind with a 307 and 318, respectively.
Dartmouth lowest performer on the day is sophomore Tara Simmons, who is tied for 17th, carding a seven-over par 78. Simmons shot one-under on par 3 scoring and finished with 10 pars.
Senior Jane lee is tied with 28th along with six other performers who all shot a nine-over par 80. Lee finished the first day of play even at par five scoring. Freshman Isabelle Kane and junior Lily Morrison are tied for 35th and shot an 80. Rounding out the Dartmouth competitors were sophomore Jamie Susanin and freshman Radi Sauro in 46th and 54th, respectively. Sauro finished the day with 11 pars.
Long Island's Christina Felip is atop the leaderboard with an even par 71. She was minus one in par four scoring with four birdies.
The final round of the invitational beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
