SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth field hockey team wraps up a three-game homestand Saturday at noon as Penn makes the trip to Hanover and Chase AstroTurf Field.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green got in the win column last weekend with a pair of victories against visiting Brown and Bryant. The Bears were bested in Hanover, 6-1, thanks in large part to a first-half surge from the home team that netted a trio of goals in the first eight minutes of play. The following afternoon saw Dartmouth take down the non-conference Bulldogs, 3-2, in overtime. The final score was the result of late-game heroics from freshman Julia Donald to tie the game with 1:31 left in regulation and an Ali Savage goal near the midpoint of the extra session to earn the win.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Making the trip to the Upper Valley for the first time in two years, Penn brings with it a 4-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Ivy League games. The Quakers have won their last two outings by a combined 8-3 margin, including a 4-2 win at Lafayette and a 4-1 triumph at home against Harvard for their first Ancient Eight victory of 2014. Emily Corcoran leads the team in both goals (8) and points (19), while Alex Iqbal has a team-leading four assists. In goal, Allison Weisenfels has been the keeper of record in all seven games, posting a 1.57 goals against average and a .744 save percentage in the process.
HISTORY WITH PENN
The Quakers own a slight 20-15-3 edge in the all-time series with Dartmouth. That figure is aided by a 5-4 overtime win last season for Penn at home. In that game at Ellen Vagelos Field, Savage netted her third hat trick of the year, but Corcoran managed the winner just 4:15 into OT with a two-player advantage to sink the Big Green.
RARE APPEARANCE IN OT
That game in Philadelphia last season was the last time Dartmouth played an overtime contest prior to Sunday's contest with Bryant. The last OT game at home was actually a 'road' game for the Green as UNH was the host at Chase Field after an issue with its turf in Durham caused the site to move. The Wildcats won, 5-4, in the extra period despite a pair of goals from then-sophomore Janine Leger.
IVY HONORS
After scoring four times and picking up nine points in the wins over the Rhode Island teams, Savage was tabbed as the Ivy League Player of the Week for the seventh time in her career. Additionally, Julia Donald was named to the conference's weekly honor roll after scoring the first three goals of her career in the pair of games.
RECORD WATCH
Head coach Amy Fowler (124-126) needs just four wins to tie Mary Corrigan (126-111) as the program's all-time winningest coach and five to surpass the record with her 127th coaching victory at Dartmouth. Following her big weekend, Savage (42) needs just five goals to tie Lauren Welsh '03 (47) for second in Big Green history. Her 104 points are fourth all-time and are just eight back of Lauren Scopaz '00 (112) and nine away from Welsh (113) who are second and third, respectively.
