ORONO, Maine – The Dartmouth field hockey team dropped a non-conference road game, 5-2, at Maine Tuesday afternoon.
The loss snapped the Big Green's three-game win streak as their overall record dipped to 3-6 this season in the process. The Black Bears' run of consecutive wins was pushed to four games with the victory with their overall mark evening at 6-6 this fall.

Senior Janine Leger scored two goals in the game — a first for the Johannesburg, South Africa, native since an Oct. 28, 2012 game against New Hampshire during her sophomore year.
Leger opened the scoring with her second goal of the season in the sixth minute and would add another in the 53rd. However, in between those two scores for the Green and White had come three Maine tallies from Danielle Aviani (10th), Zoe Berkey (19th) and Nicole Sevey (24th) to put the home team in front for good.
Aviani and Annabelle Hamilton tacked on two more goals for Maine in the 56th and 58th minutes, respectively; answering Leger's second marker and pushing the lead back to three.
Assisting on both of Leger's goals was senior and fellow captain Ali Savage. For Savage, it marked the fourth-straight multi-point outing after recording a pair of goals in each of the last three games.
Senior goalkeeper Ellen Meyer turned aside three Black Bear shots, while allowing five. At the other end of the field, Maine's Emma Cochran made four saves in picking up her fourth win of the season.
The Big Green held an overwhelming 7-1 advantage in penalty corners, but that did not translate into shots as the Black Bears edged the visitors, 12-11.
Dartmouth is back in action in Hanover this weekend as it hosts Albany Saturday at noon.
