HANOVER, N.H. – Senior Alex Adelabu and sophomore Ricardo Gomez scored for the Dartmouth men's soccer team, as the Big Green defeated Central Connecticut State, 3-1, on Tuesday evening at Burnham Field.
Dartmouth improves to 6-2-1 overall while CCSU drops to 4-5 and will begin Northeast Conference play this weekend at Long Island. The Big Green finished the game with a 16-5 advantage in shots and took all nine corner kicks.
"I am pleased with our overall performance tonight against Central Connecticut," said head coach Chad Riley. "The Blue Devils are an explosive team that has made the NCAA Tournament numerous times and it was a good game to get on our schedule."

"With a little bit of luck Alex would have scored a few more tonight. He is really playing well for us this season and hopefully his play will continue into this weekend."
Dartmouth scored twice in the opening half, as the hosts dominated with 13 shots and six corner kicks. It didn't take the Big Green long to score as Gomez potted his first of the season off a rebound after senior Eric Jayne had his shot blocked in the seventh minute. The Big Green took a two-goal lead in the 44th minute, as Adelabu battled with a CCSU defender and won the ball inside the 18-yard box and beat the sprawling goalkeeper.
"Eric made a great pass. He is smart and has done a lot of good things for us this season," commented Riley.
In the second half, both sides jockeyed for position in the midfield, until Gomez was whistled for a handball in the box. The Blue Devil's Stephen Walmsley connected on the penalty kick with 11:38 remaining.
"I was extremely pleased with Ricardo and Sten Stray-Gundersen on the back end today. It was an unfortunate penalty on Ricardo to allow a penalty kick for Central," continued Riley.
Two minutes later, Adelabu tallied his second of the contest on a blast from inside the 18-yard box. Classmate Hugh Danilack and Matt Danilack were credited with the assists.
"Hugh plays the game simple. He continues to get better each game and has definitely improved for us game-in and game-out," exclaimed Riley.
Sophomore James Hickok made two saves for the hosts and CCSU's Josef Abele made seven stops.
Dartmouth will host Yale on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., as part of a doubleheader with the women. Both contests will be streamed live in HD on the Ivy League Digital Network.
