HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's track & field team played host to its third home meet of the season Saturday afternoon inside Leverone Field House.
The Big Green hosted several regional programs at the Dartmouth Classic with numerous individuals posting solid performances in their home building.
Freshman Ben Nollet won the high jump with a cleared height of 6-6.0/1.98 on his second attempt. Not far from the high jump area, senior Josh Cyphers took the top spot in the pole vault as he was the lone competitor to clear 15-6.25/4.73m.
John Abraham ran a 7:01 in the finals of the 60m to take second as he was edged out by Vermont's Romario Bailey by one-hundredth of a second.
Sophomore Edward Wagner (1:07.30) narrowly defeated Ben Greenwald (1:07.48) of Vermont to earn the top spot in the 500m, while Connor Clark was second in the 3000m (8:41.03).
In the weight throw, Thomas Servino's 56-8.5/17.28m was six feet better than the next-best throw, claiming first place in the event. Freshmen Jonathan Beering (3rd - 50-4.75/15.36) and Tim Brennan (4th - 49-6.50/15.10m) also were solid in the event.
Beering continued his solid day with the top showing in the shot put. His 51-6.50/17.71m toss came on his sixth and final toss of the day and was more than two meters better than any other competitor.
Both the men and women's teams will be in Boston next weekend, competing at BU's Valentine Invitational Friday and Saturday.
