TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Two members of the Dartmouth men's tennis team competed on the final day of the three-day Four-In-The-Fall Tournament in Alabama on Sunday. Throughout the Tournament, the Green and White won eight of their matches and picked up a victory in the last match of the weekend.
Against Thomas Collauti of Princeton, sophomore Diego Pedraza won the first set, 3-6, and fell in the final two, 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Ciro Riccardi dropped his first set to Alabama's Sean Donohue, 4-6, but was able to come back and win the other two sets, 6-4, 7-6, to take the match.
“We finished the tournament with two extremely competitive matches against very good competition and were able to pull out a great victory in the last match of the day,” said assistant coach Tom Boysen. “Through two fall tournaments, our guys have been able to fight back from dropping the first set 12 different times to force a third set. That is something we are very proud of.”
Next up for the Big Green will be the 2014 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men's All-American Championships, which will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Senior Chris Kipouras and junior Dovydas Sakinis will open competition tomorrow against some of the best collegiate players in the country.
