TULSA, Okla. – Dartmouth men's tennis players Dovydas Sakinis and Chris Kipouras competed in the qualifying draw on the first day of the 2014 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men's All-American Championship at the University of Tulsa on Monday.
The Tournament, which will run through Monday, Oct. 6, features the best collegiate players in the country who have to gain entry into the main draw and qualify by selection. It is one of three major individual tournaments that will take place throughout the year, along with the National Indoor Championship in November and the NCAA Championship in May.
Against Mathieu Froment of Minnesota, Sakinis fell in the first set by a score of 4-6, before coming from behind to take the final two, 6-2, 6-0. Kipouras dropped both sets to Notre Dame's Quentin Monaghan, 6-3, 6-2,
Sakinis will compete tomorrow in the second round of the qualifying draw at 9:30 a.m. (CT), while Kipouras will play in a consolation match at 9 a.m. Live scoring of the tournament can be found here.
