HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's track & field team picked up a first-place showing in a home meet against three teams Saturday afternoon at Leverone Field House.
The Big Green bested Maine (55), Vermont (41) and Colgate (9) in the second home meet in as many weeks, taking the top spot with 80 points.
Helping Dartmouth to the resounding victories were seven individual event wins as well as 11 second-place finishes.
Event titles were claimed by Phil Gomez (500m, 1:05.38), Alex Frye (60mH, 8.36), Joe Carey (1000m, 2:33.46), Adam Couitt (200m, 22.70), Daniel Salas (3000m, 8:31.05), Corey Muggler (triple jump, 46-11.50/14.31m) and Dom Filiano (shot put, 52-10.25/16.11m).
The Big Green were dominant in several events, claiming the top two spots in the 60m, 500m and 3000m, the top three in the 60m hurdles and the 200m, while the top-five finishers in the shot put all wore the colors of the home team.
Freshman Ben Colello was second in both the 400m as well as the 60m, posting a 50.54 in the former, while an 8.57 in the latter.
Jeremy Birck (6-6.75/2.0m) and Frye (6-4.75/1.95m) were second and third, respectively, in the high jump.
