vs Dartmouth Invite #1

HANOVER, N.H. - No. 46 Dartmouth men's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season by defeating No. 66 Denver by a score of 5-2 on Friday afternoon at the Boss Tennis Center.
Sophomore Diego Pedraza and freshman Ciro Riccardi were the first off the court in doubles, winning their match against Denver's David Fox and Zach Fryer, 6-2. Diogo Rocha and Yannik James evened things up by defeating junior Brendan Tannenbaum and freshman Aman Agarwal, 6-3.
With the doubles' point hanging in the balance, the Big Green's No. 22-ranked duo of senior Chris Kipouras and junior Dovydas Sakinis delivered a 7-5 victory to put Dartmouth ahead, 1-0, in the team match.
Freshman Max Fliegner put the Green and White up, 2-0, with a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Denver's Aidan Talcott, but the lead was short-lived. Rocha and James tied the team match at 2-2 with victories over Pedraza and Riccardi. Tannenbaum then scored a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Fox to put Dartmouth one point away from the win.
The remaining two matches both went into deciding third sets before Sakinis gave the Big Green the team victory with his 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over Henry Craig at the number one position. Kipouras added another point for Dartmouth by defeating Alex Gasson.
“We talk about improving as a team on a daily basis,” head coach Chris Drake said. “There were certainly aspects of today's match that were better than in last weekend's matches, but there are still many areas in which we need to do a better job if we are going to be the team we know we can be this season. That starts with the next opportunity, our match against a very good Indiana team tomorrow afternoon."
Dartmouth's match against No. 64 Indiana is scheduled to start at 3:30pm tomorrow in the Boss Tennis Center.
