HANOVER, N.H. — Three quarterbacks tossed touchdown passes and Dartmouth piled up a 528-68 advantage in total yards Sunday as the Big Green junior varsity scored all of its points in the first half of a 42-0 walkover against the Williams College jayvees.
Freshman
Drew Hunnicutt was on the receiving end of nine passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns, the last a one-play, 68-yard “drive” with seconds to go in the opening half that closed out the scoring.
Only two interceptions, a lost fumble, playing five quarterbacks and switching to running time kept the score from being more lopsided in a game where quarterbacks, punts and kicks were not “live.”
Bruce Dixon IV, who completed his first varsity pass in Saturday's win over Yale, got the start for Dartmouth and completed 8-of-12 passes for 99 yards playing three series, none back-to-back.
Jack Heneghan was 8-for-9 for 176 yards with two touchdowns in his three non-contiguous series while
Harry Kraft was 6-of-9 for 93 yards with one touchdown and one interception in four series.
Scott Lloyd and
Darryl Mobley each got in for one series at quarterback with Lloyd completing one throw for five yards and suffering one interception.
Joseph Cook caught three passes for 79 yards and a touchdown and
Kevin Muzzi six for 46 yards and a score. Adding one catch apiece were KJ Booze (21 yards) Town (six yards),
Kevin Barrett (19 yards) and
Blake Orvis (three yards).
While the quarterbacks and receivers were having their way the running backs weren't far behind with
Forrest Town coming out strong and running six times for 72 yards. Mile Smith had six carries for 57 yards and the only rushing touchdown of the afternoon from 17 yards out.
Senior
Jake Young had three sacks for the Big Green while
Brandon Chu had a pair.
Jake Moen and
Davaron Stockman topped Dartmouth with six tackles apiece while
Porter Ontko and
Nick Peart each had five.
Ross Wood had an interception and two knockdowns while
Bun Straton's breakup in the middle of the field might have been the hit of the day.
Williams was limited to four first downs, one by penalty. Dartmouth had 23 first downs.
The Big Green junior varsity closes out its season with a passing scrimmage on Memorial Field against Norwich University on Oct. 25 at 1 p.m., the day after the varsity game against Columbia.
