The Dartmouth men's soccer team looks to remain undefeated in the Ivy League as the Big Green host Columbia at Burnham Field at 7:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth is coming off a thrilling 1-0 road victory over Penn. With less than two minutes left in regulation, sophomore Matt Danilack found the back of the net for his third goal of the season and the Big Green's fifth consecutive victory. In goal Stefan Cleveland only needed to make one save to earn his sixth shutout of the year.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Columbia has won four of its last five games, most recently a 1- 0 victory over Sacred Heart. The Lions also took down a nationally ranked Providence team, 2-1, in double overtime on Sept. 13. Columbia's offense is led by its two leading goal scorers, sophomore Arthur Bousa and senior Frederick Elliot. The pair have each scored twice this season for the Lions. In goal, Kyle Jackson has made 33 saves and boasts a save percentage of .786. Jackson has given up nine goals in the 1,020 minutes he's seen between the pipes.
LAST TIME AGAINST COLUMBIA
On Saturday Oct. 25 2014, Dartmouth defeated Columbia 1-0 in dramatic overtime fashion. Wyatt Omsberg scored the game winner on a header off a corner kick in the 96th minute to propel the Big Green to victory. Cleveland made five stops in the shutout.
THE RACE FOR FIRST PLACE
Dartmouth is currently tied for first place in the Ivy League with Harvard, as both teams are undefeated in conference play at 3-0. The Big Green travel to Cambridge on Oct. 31 for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff. Not far behind Dartmouth and Harvard in conference play sits this weekend's opponent Columbia at 2-1.
LEADING THE PACK
Dartmouth netminder Cleveland leads the Ivy League in four categories. Cleveland has only allowed five goals on the season with a goals against average of 0.61 and a save percentage of .865. He also leads the Ivy League in shutouts with six followed by Columbia' s Kyle Jackson who has five. On the offensive side of the ball, the Big Green are tied with Columbia for third in goals scored with 15 behind Brown's 16 and Princeton with 22.
OUTSCORING THE COMPETITION
During Dartmouth's recent five-game win streak the Big Green have out scored their opponents 8-1. Dartmouth has allowed an Ivy League leading seven goals on the season.
