THIS WEEKEND
Dartmouth women's soccer, having not played for a week following the cancellation of the game against Hampton on Tuesday, will travel to Connecticut for a 7 p.m. face-off with Yale on Saturday live on ESPN3.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green had their eight-match unbeaten streak broken on Saturday with a 3-2 overtime loss to Princeton on Burnham Field after the Tigers' Natalie Larkin scored in the 95th minute. Dartmouth got two goals from Jill Dayneka, the second and third tallies of her collegiate career, and both goals were the result of Brittany Champagne corner kicks into the box, where Dayneka was stationed at the far post for headers each time. The markers came in the 27th and 43rd minutes, respectively. Princeton led in shots, 17-10, while the home team held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale is entering the game with a record of 3-5-2 and has not picked up a conference win yet – nor has it been able to score a goal – against Ivy opponents, sporting an 0-2 league mark. The Bulldogs' last victory was a 1-0 shutout of Villanova on Sept. 11 and, since then, they have fallen to Maryland (5-1), Princeton (3-0) and Harvard (4-0), while tying Hartford and Stony Brook both by scores of 1-1. Goalkeeper Rachel Ames leads the Ivy League with 60 saves.
LAST TIME AGAINST YALE
On Oct. 11, 2014, the Big Green and the Bulldogs played to a scoreless draw on Burnham Field. The tie was Dartmouth's third consecutive conference draw of the season. Tasha Wilkins and Corey Delaney led the Green with four shots each. Wilkins had an opportunity to score in the second overtime period, but the shot sailed low to the ground. Dartmouth finished the game with a 16-7 edge in shots and an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks. Yale's Elise Wilcox made 10 saves, while Tatiana Saunders stopped two of Yale's attacks.
IN THE STANDINGS
The team and a handful of players are faring well in the conference right now. Dartmouth is tied for first out of the eight Ivy League schools in goals (29) and goals per game (2.64), and is second in points (87), assists (29), assists per game (2.64) corner kicks (71), shutouts (6), goals allowed (7) and goals against average (0.61). Individually, Lucielle Kozlov is first in goals (9), goals per game (0.82) and game-winning goals (4). Melanie Vangel and Lauren Lucas are tied for first with four others players in assists (5).
