HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's tennis hosted its first event of the 2015-16 season, welcoming Amherst, Middlebury, Williams, Fairfield, Army, Yale, Brown and Buffalo to the Boss Tennis Center for the Dartmouth Invitational.
On the first day of competition, the Big Green went 4-3 in singles action. Of the three matches that went to three sets, Dartmouth came out on the winning side of things in two of them.
Freshman Eddie Grabill dropped his second set against Middlebury's Smolyar, 7-6, but won the first and third, 6-3, 6-1, to take the match. Sophomore Max Fliegner had a good match against Svenning of Yale, coming back from a 6-3 loss in the first set to win the remaining two, 6-4, 6-1.
Against Fairfield's Rodgers, freshman Roko Glasnovic had an easy 6-2, 6-2 victory, while sophomore Paul Midgley had a 6-4, 6-4 win over Caputo of Fairfield.
The Green will return to action on Saturday afternoon.
