HANOVER, N.H. – After the visitor tied the score and sent the game to overtime with less than six minutes remaining in the game, the Dartmouth women's hockey team ended up falling to No. 7/7 Clarkson, 2-1, at Thompson Arena on Friday night.
At 3:51 in the overtime period, Genevieve Bannon took advantage of sophomore Robyn Chemago skating to the right to save a previous shot and pocketed the puck in the left corner of the net to end the game.
The Big Green dipped to 13-12-2 and 9-10-2 in ECAC Hockey play, while the Golden Knights improved to 21-9-2 and 15-4-2 in conference action.
Sophomore Kennedy Ottenbreit scored Dartmouth's lone goal of the game, netting her 12th of the season in the process. Also ending the night with a point were junior Laura Stacey and sophomore Eleni Tebano, who earned the assists.
With 1:19 remaining on the power play and all four Clarkson players standing between her and the net, Ottenbreit received the puck from Stacey and Tebano well in front of the net and fired the puck past the visitors to find the back of the net at 13:11 in the first.
Senior Karlee Odland almost increased Dartmouth's lead to two at 13:39 in the second when she received the puck directly in front of the net and took a shot to the right of the cage at the exact moment that netminder Shea Tiley skated to the left, but Odland's shot sailed just right of the pipe.
At 14:11 in the third period, Clarkson got the goal that it was searching for. A slapshot by Savannah Harmon was sent home by Christine Lambert, who was standing directly in front of the net. The score remained tied at one for the remaining six minutes before the game was sent to overtime.
Clarkson outshot Dartmouth, 42-27. Chemago had a big night with 40 saves, while Tiley stopped 26 shots.
The Big Green's final home game of the 2014-15 season will take place on Saturday when it hosts St. Lawrence at 4p.m.
