HANOVER, N.H. – In the wake of the Dartmouth men's hockey season coming to an end this past weekend, two-year captain Tyler Sikura has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Sikura played in all 33 games this season for the Big Green, finishing second on the team in scoring with 24 points as well as in both goals (10) and assists (14).
In his four seasons, Sikura amassed 92 points on 36 goals and 56 assists. No other Dartmouth player had more helpers in the last four years than the Aurora, Ontario, native. He led the team in scoring as both a freshman and sophomore, including a career-high 32 points in the latter of the two.
Also in that sophomore campaign, Sikura was the Big Green's leader in both goals (12) and assists (20), setting new career highs across the board offensively.
Over the course of his Dartmouth career, Sikura appeared in 125 contests, ranking him 15th all-time on the games played list in the program's 109-year history.
To this point, only Sikura and six other individuals have ever served as Dartmouth's captain more than once in a career with just four of those doing so in a solo capacity as he had done in the final two seasons.
The Falcons are the top minor-league affiliate of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets. Sikura and his new Springfield teammates will play three straight home games on consecutive days starting Friday against Bridgeport, Hartford and Syracuse.
