Nico Robinson Wins Decathlon at Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Dartmouth sophomore Nico Robinson began his outdoor season by winning the men's decathlon Friday at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina.
Robinson led after Thursday's first four events and kept the momentum going Friday by holding on for the individual title at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium, finishing with 6,504 total points.
The Stanford, California, native won the 110m hurdles (15.41) and placed well in the other events, including second in the pole vault (14-1.25/4.30m) and third in the javelin (148-4.0/45.23m).
He also finished seventh in the 1500m (5:08.24) and 11th in the discus (79-11.0/24.36m).
In all, Robinson claimed the top spot in four individuals events.
