NEW ORLEANS, La. – After postponing the match by a day due to poor weather, the No. 60 Dartmouth men's tennis team faced No. 65 Tulane on Friday, falling by a score of 4-0 at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center.
The Big Green dipped to 9-7, while the Green Wave improved to 14-6 on a season that is rapidly coming to a close.
Tulane earned the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and 3 positions. At No. 1, junior Dovydas Sakinis and senior Chris Kipouras were hanging on for the ride, narrowly trailing, 4-3, to Dominik Koepfer and Chi-Shan Jao when the match was suspended.
The Green Wave went on to win at the No. 1, 2 and 6 singles to end the day. At the No. 3 position, freshman Ciro Riccardi dropped his first set to Alex Van Cott, 6-1, before winning the second, 6-2. The Green rookie was down, 2-1, when the match went unfinished. At No. 6, sophomore Max Schmidt had defeated the other twin, Ian Van Cott, in the first set, 6-4, and the score was tied at two in the second when it was suspended.
Dartmouth has just one more day to enjoy the warmth before returning to rainy Hanover. The Big Green will play its final non-conference match of 2015 when it faces No. 32 Florida State at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
