4/10/2015 11:39:00 AM | Peak Performance
Dartmouth women's skiier Natalie Flowers (Bozeman, MT) will serve as a link between Big Green athletics and the Upper Valley community as the Jaeger Civic Intern for the current academic year. Natalie will graduate in June 2014 with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Public Policy.
The internship is named in honor of former Director of Athletics Richard G, Jaeger and promotes and facilitates local community service by Dartmouth student-athletes. The Jaeger Intern serves as a coordinator for matching community service by Dartmouth Athletic teams or groups to community needs and opportunities.
A cooperative venture between the Department of Athletics and the Tucker Foundation, the internship is located within the Department of Athletics, where primary supervision occurs, but a close working relationship with the staff of the Tucker Foundation is an essential component of the intern's planning, training and project management. On-campus recruitment, community needs assessment, and evaluations are all areas of work and learning challenge for this internship. Best will also be responsible for writing a blog, so interested parties can view the work that is going on with the internship.
In addition to skiing, Flowers has held several leadership roles and has served within the Dartmouth community. Throughout her time at Dartmouth Flowers has been involved with the Dartmouth Office of Sustainability and recently completed two consecutive internships. Furthermore, she has volunteered with Thetford Mentors since her freshmen year and works as a tour guide through the Office of Admissions. This past spring Natalie received a Tucker Dartmouth Partners in Community Service Fellowship. She traveled to Austin, Texas and worked at a non profit focused on food sustainability issues.
Flowers replaces women's soccer player Grace Best (Downingtown, PA) who held the position for one year.
