HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 50 Dartmouth men's tennis fell to No. 46 Cornell, 5-2, at the Boss Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Big Green dipped to 9-10 and 0-2 in Ivy League play, while the Big Red improved to 9-7 and 1-2 in conference action.
Cornell took the doubles point with a 7-5 victory at No. 2 and a 6-2 win at No. 3. The No. 21-ranked pairing of junior Dovydas Sakinis and senior Chris Kipouras were tied at six with Bernardo Casares Rosa and Chris Vrabel when the match expired.
The Big Red went on to take four of the six singles points to win the match, but not before the Green won two of their own. At the No. 1 position, No. 86 Sakinis had a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sam Fleck, while No. 91 Kipouras defeated Casares Rosa, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2. All but one of the other matches went to three sets.
Dartmouth will be on the road for three straight conference contests, starting with matches at Princeton and Brown next Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12. Both will be played at 1 p.m.
