PHILADELPHIA – The Dartmouth men's track & field team finished fifth at the 2015 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championship at Franklin Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Big Green posted 67 points over the course of the weekend. Princeton won the Ivy League title with 161 points with Cornell (159.50), Penn (89) and Brown (76) to follow, while Harvard (56.50), Columbia (37) and Yale (36) were each behind Dartmouth thanks to the Green's strong start (39 points) on Saturday.
Sunday's top performer for the Green and White appeared to be Brett Buskey who earned points in both the 100m and 200m. The senior was third in the former with a 10.71 to his credit, while a 21.61 in the latter earned him a fifth-place finish. Combined, Buskey picked up eight points between the two events to add to Dartmouth's team total.
Earning seven points in the high jump was Jeremy Birck as he tied for second place in the event. Birck cleared 6-9.5/2.07m before he and the rest of the field stalled at the next height.
Edward Wagner was fourth in the finals of the 400m hurdles, crossing in 52.34 to register four points. Also in fourth and earning four points in his respective event was Corey Muggler in triple jump. Muggler's best mark was measured at 49-8.5/15.15m and came on his third attempt of the day.
Sophomore Alex Frye was another individual to finish in the scoring on the hot and sunny Sunday in the City of Brotherly Love. Frye was fifth in the final of the 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.50 and good for another pair of points.
The relay teams struggled to maintain the scoring touch they have had in the recent past as both the 4x400m (3:14.18) and 4x100 (41.72) were sixth, while the 4x800m (7:50.87) took eighth.
