HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's squash team fell to Penn, 9-0 at the Berry Squash Courts on Sunday afternoon.
The loss drops the Big Green to 2-4, while the Quakers improve to 5-1.
Dartmouth struggled in the first round of matches as freshman Carly Rizzuto, senior Lydie McKenzie and sophomore Caroline Canning all lost 3-0. However, Canning had a strong showing against her opponent dropping the second game 11-9 before nearly forcing a fourth.
Sophomore Becky Brownell and junior Maddie Fraser faced accomplished players and lost in three straight games.
Meanwhile freshman Emma Roberts had a solid performance for the second day in a row. Despite losing 3-0, Roberts pushed her opponent to a tie breaker twice during the match.
Sophomore Zainab Molani and senior Tori Dewey played well but could not overcome the strong competition. After competing well yesterday against Princeton, sophomore Janel Gaube fell in three straight games.
The Big Green return to action on Sat. Jan 16 when Dartmouth hosts Drexel at 12:00 p.m.
