DEDHAM, Mass. – The Dartmouth field hockey team dropped a 5-2 non-conference game at Northeastern Sunday afternoon.

The Big Green dropped to 3-6 this season with the defeat, while the Huskies moved back over .500 to 6-5 with the win.

Northeastern charged out to a 4-0 lead in the first half with goals from Kellie Stigas (10'), Mia Martin (23'), Jamie Bartucca (31') and Kristin Abreu (31').

Freshman Carmen Braceras cut the lead to three right before halftime with her team-leading fifth goal of the season. Braceras deposited a rebound into the back of the cage with nothing but zeroes showing on the clock as Dartmouth had been awarded a penalty corner, allowing the play to continue beyond the sound of the horn.

It remained 4-1 until the 50th minute when fellow freshman Katie Spanos scored the first goal of her career on a tipped shot that had followed a penalty-corner bid.

That was as close as it got with Jessica Unger netting her third of the season in the 64th minute to put the Huskies back up three.

Freshman Emma Plumb once again had to be spectacular in goal as the Northeastern attack didn't quit all day. Plumb tied her career-best mark, making 15 saves in the losing effort as the Huskies outshot the Green and White, 30-10.

In all, the shots on goal read 21-7 in favor of the home team, while corners also favored the Huskies, 11-2.

The Big Green are back in action Friday afternoon at home against Penn.
