NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The eleventh-ranked Dartmouth women's squash team defeated No. 31 Virginia in a dominant 9-0 victory on Friday in the opening round of the College Squash Association Team Championship in New Haven.
With the victory, the Big Green improve to 6-9, while the Cavaliers fall to 9-5
In the first round of matches, junior Madeline Fraser and sophomores Janel Gaube and Rebecca Brownell dominated their matches winning 3-0, to get Dartmouth off to a solid start.
Freshman Carly Rizzuto and sophomore Zainab Molani both played with confidence, sweeping their opponents in straight games. Meanwhile, senior Tori Dewey won her match after dropping the second game to rebound for a 3-1 win.
In the final round of matches, the Big Green continued their solid performance as senior Lydie McKenzie recorded another 3-0 victory for Dartmouth. Freshman Emma Roberts won her first game, but couldn't close out the match in the second or third. She eventually took down her opponent winning the fourth and fifth games.
Junior Jacqueline Barnes swept her opponent in three games to cap off the solid outing for the Big Green.
Dartmouth returns to the court on Saturday to take on Williams in the semi finals.
