No. 42 Big Green Drop Close Match to No. 27 Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – The No. 42 Dartmouth men's tennis team fell to No. 27 Tulsa by a score of 4-3 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Tuesday. The Big Green dipped to 11-7 overall, while the Golden Hurricanes improved to 8-8.

Tulsa won at No. 3 doubles to start things off, but senior Brendan Tannenbaum and junior George Wall defeated Dylan McCloskey and Dominic Bechard in a 6-2 decision at the No. 2 position to tie the doubles score at 1-1. A 7-5 victory at No. 1 gave the Golden Hurricanes the first point of the afternoon.

The home team made it 2-0 with a win at the No. 3 singles position, but two Green victories put Dartmouth back in the match. At No. 1, senior Dovydas Sakinis had a 7-6, 6-2 defeat of Juan Matias Gonzalaz and, at the No. 4 position, Wall took down McCloskey, 6-4, 6-3.

The Golden Hurricanes claimed No 6 singles, while junior Max Schmidt won at No. 5, defeating Majed Kilani, 6-4, 6-2, to keep things tied at three-all. At the No. 3 position, Carolos Bautista and sophomore Max Fliegner remained close for the majority of the match, but the Tulsa player ultimately walked away with a 7-6, 6-3 victory.

On Thursday, March 24, Dartmouth will face its fourth consecutive ranked opponent when it takes on No. 33 Memphis at 3 p.m.
