HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth will send three divers to the 2016 NCAA Division I 'A' Diving Regional Championship, which will take place at Navy's Lejeune Hall in Annapolis from Monday through Wednesday, March 7-9.
Senior Brett Gillis and freshmen AJ Krok and Allison Green and 100 other divers will compete on 1-meter and 3-meter in the qualifying field for the chance to earn an invite to the NCAA National Championship.
The Zone 'A' meet is one of five regional meets used to determine the NCAA championship qualifiers. The top five female and top four male divers from each event at their respective zone diving meet will be eligible to compete at the national championship. Additional place finishers in each event at each zone will be eligible based on the number of student-athletes from that zone who finished in the top 16 in that event at the previous year's championship.
At the Ivy League Championship, Gillis placed fifth on 1-meter and seventh on 1-meter, earning 48 points towards the team's total. At the end of the meet, he was named the Ron Keenhold Career High Point Diver for accumulating 189 points throughout his four years, which is the most of any senior diver at the meet. This will be his fourth trip to regionals.
During his first showing at the conference meet, Krok placed seventh on the 1-meter board and took 10th on 3-meter, moving up five places and improving by over 50 points from prelims to consolation finals. Also competing at Ivies for the first time, Green was 12th on the 1-meter board, earning 15 points.
