HANOVER, N.H. — The NCAA Men's and Women's Skiing Committee announced the skiers selected to participate in the 2016 National Collegiate Men's and Women's Skiing Championships, and Dartmouth will be represented by a total of 12 student-athletes. The championships will take place on March 9-12 at Mt. Werner and Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, with the University of Colorado serving as the host school for the event.
The Big Green skiers selected for the competition are:
| Alpine | Nordic |
| Alex Dlouhy, Fr. (Montreal, Quebec) | Lydia Blanchet, Fr. (Anchorage, Alaska) |
| Brian McLaughlin, So. (Topsfield, Massachusetts) | Callan DeLine, So. (Avon, Colorado) |
| Kelly Moore, So. (Ottawa, Ontario) | Oscar Friedman, Sr. (Boulder, Colorado) |
| Foreste Peterson, So. (Berkeley, California) | Mary O'Connell, Sr. (Steamboat Springs, Colorado) |
| Kevyn Read, So. (Calgary, Alberta) | Fabian Stocek, Jr. (Jilemnic, Czech Republic) |
| Thomas Woolson, Jr. (Warren, Vermont) | Corey Stock, Sr. (Lincoln, Massachusetts) |
These dozen skiers accounted for a total of 33 podium finishes during the carnival season, 23 coming in the alpine events. Peterson led Dartmouth with six podiums with a pair of victories in the giant slalom, but it was Dlouhy that won the most events, claiming the first three slaloms of the season. Both McLaughlin and Stocek each finished in the top three on five occasions, as did Moore who matched Peterson with two triumphs in the giant slalom. Other victories this carnival season belonged to Stock (classic sprint at Bates) and Blanchet (5K freestyle at Vermont).
Participants are selected on a regional basis from two designated regions for alpine skiing (East and West Regions) and three designated regions for Nordic skiing (Central, East and West Regions). Bids are awarded to regions using a formula determined by the skiing committee. A maximum of 12 student-athletes (three per gender per discipline) may participate from an institution.
Along with Dartmouth, seven other schools will be sending the full complement of 12 skiers to Colorado — Alaska Anchorage, Colorado, Montana State, New Mexico, Utah, Vermont and the defending champion, Denver.
Alpine events will run at both venues in Steamboat Springs. The men's and women's giant slaloms will be held March 9 at Mt. Werner, with the men's and women's slaloms conducted at Howelsen Hill on March 11.
Nordic events will be held at Howelsen Hill with the men's 10K and women's 5K freestyle cross country races taking place on March 10. The women's 15K and men's 20K classical races will be held March 12.
Following the conclusion of the East Regional, Dartmouth had 11 skiers earn All-East honors with four making the first team in McLaughlin, Moore, Peterson and Stocek.
