HANOVER, N.H. – No. 54 Dartmouth defeated No. 69 Yale, 4-3, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at home. The Big Green improved to 12-6 overall and 3-3 in Ivy League play, while the Bulldogs dipped to 8-12 and 2-4.
The 19th-ranked pairing of junior Taylor Ng and sophomore Kristina Mathis had a 6-1 victory over Madeleine Hamilton and Tina Jiang at No. 1, but Yale took the first point of the day by winning at the No. 2 and 3 doubles positions.
Trailing, 1-0, Dartmouth went on to win four singles matches in a row to end the day with a victory. Mathis tied things at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 defeat of Ree Ree Li at No. 3 and junior Jacqueline Crawford gave the Green the go-ahead with her 6-0, 6-4 win over Courtney Amos at the No. 4 position.
Ng added a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Hamilton at No. 1 and sophomore Julia Schroeder clinched with her 6-2, 7-4 victory over Amy Yang at the No. 5 position. Yale got two more points by winning a tiebreaker at No. 2 and a superbreaker at No. 5.
On Saturday, April 23, Dartmouth will play its final regular season match of 2016, taking on Harvard at 2 p.m. at home.
