HANOVER, N.H. – No. 49 Dartmouth women's tennis closed the 2016 regular season with a 5-2 win over No. 59 Harvard at the Thompson outdoor courts on Senior Day Saturday.
The Big Green ended up with a record of 13-6 and 4-3 in Ivy League play, while the Crimson dipped to 12-11 and 2-5. Dartmouth moved from fifth at the start of the weekend to finish second in the league standings.
Wins by senior Katherine Yau and sophomore Kristina Mathis at No. 2 doubles and junior Jacqueline Crawford and sophomore Lexxi Kiven at No. 3, both by scores of 6-2, gave the first point to Dartmouth. At the top spot, the 21st-ranked pairing of junior Taylor Ng and sophomore Kristina Mathis were ahead, 4-3, when the match went unfinished.
Schroeder and Ng made it 3-0 with victories at the No. 5 and 1 positions, but Harvard got one back with a win at No. 6. Mathis clinched with her 7-5, 6-4 win over Nikki Kallenberg at No. 3 and Yau won her final Ivy match of her career in the form of a three-set victory at No. 2.
