SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Dartmouth sailing team is in 11th place at the Inter Collegiate Sailing Association Laser Performance Team Race at the San Diego Yacht Club.

The Big Green went 5-6 on the first day of the tournament with wins over Navy, Old Dominion, Wisconsin and Eckerd. Dartmouth was represented by Robert Floyd, Charles Lalumiere, Christopher Williford, Madeline Cooney, Rebecca McElvain and Abigail Rohman.

The Team Race National Championship brings together 16 teams for a three-day regatta. Each team has three boats and teams face off against one another, with each race being either a win or loss. After the round robin style tournament, the top eight teams will split off for another round robin to determine the final four, who will then compete for the Walter C. Wood Trophy and the National Championship.

Ivy League foe Yale leads the field at 10-1, while Boston College is in second at 9-1, followed by St. Mary's College of Maryland and Georgetown at 9-1 and 8-2 respectively.

Dartmouth returns to the water for day two of the tournament tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
