HANOVER, N.H. – On Monday, Interim Head Coach
Rebecca McElvain announced Zoë Hoctor will join the open and women's sailing teams as an assistant coach.
Hoctor, who graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland this past May, was a two-time MAISA Crew of the Year finalist and first team All-MAISA open crew with the Seahawks. She also captained the team for three straight seasons and was the student athlete advisory committee representative for two years.
While a student-athlete at St. Mary's, Hoctor also served as a summer coach at the New Bedford Yacht Club, acting as the head 420 race coach and an assistant director. In 2024, Hoctor coached the team to top finishes at four regattas, winning the Durant Team Race and going undefeated for the second time in a row.
Hoctor coached athletes to the c420 National Championship. She also led teams that placed in the top five at North Americans in 2023, the Orange Bowl in 2023, and Nationals in 2025.
This past summer, Hoctor worked at the Nantucket Yacht Club, also as the head 420 race coach.
She also has experience as an instructor, coach, and section lead at the Annapolis Yacht Club and the Hoover Sailing Club.
