SATURDAY'S GAMES
The Dartmouth rugby team is back home to take on Columbia Saturday afternoon at Brophy Field. Game time for the varsity matchup is set for 1 p.m. The team will also play a development game against the University of New England at 3 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green opened Ivy League play last Saturday morning in Providence with a 51-18 drubbing of Brown. Frankie Sands and Becca Jane Rosko each had two tries in the game with the former scoring twice in the first half and the latter touching down two times in the final frame. Sophomore Kat Ramage also had two successful conversions and her first try of the season in the opening frame as well.
FIRSTS FOR FOUR
Saturday's game at Brown featured four players notching either the first tries of the season or careers. Ramage (30'), Karina Ramirez (11'), Isabel Boettcher (38') and Morgan McGonagle (63') all touched down beyond the try line in the win for the first time this fall.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
- The last time these two teams met was Oct. 18, 2014 in Hanover. To say the Big Green were dominant in the final matchup between the two programs prior to moving to varsity status would be an understatement. Dartmouth easily defeated visiting Columbia, 92-5.
- Columbia has played just one game this season, falling to Yale, 32-22.
LEADERBOARD
Freshman Becca Jane continues to lead the team in scoring following her two tries against the Bears, pushing her point total to 20 points in three games. Ramage's two conversions and one try in Providence moved her alone into second with 17 points, while Sands is immediately behind in third with 15.
DOWTY'S KEYS TO SUCCESS
Development: We have a new group of walk-ons who have joined the squad and are ready to contribute this weekend. We are excited by their potential and depending on our veteran players to lead them.
Territory: As we look to round out our attacking game, we're focused on playing in their half of the field by balancing our kicking and running game to good effect.
Standards: Like last week, and all season, our goal every game is to play to our own expectations, regardless the level of the opposition.
