Despite Tie at Halftime, Women's Rugby Falls to Life

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's rugby team battled Life University at Brophy Field on Saturday, Sept. 12, on an afternoon that saw the Running Eagles pull away for a 49-22 win despite the match being tied at halftime.
Annie Henrich led all Dartmouth scorers with 12 points on a try, two conversions and a penalty kick. Lauren Cheng and Vasiti Turagavou each added a try for the Big Green. Cheng's tree tries lead the Big Green on the season.

The Big Green, fresh off a season-opening victory over Army, moved to 1-1 on the year.
Life is one of the nation's most dominant collegiate rugby programs. The Running Eagles won a trio of national championships across multiple formats during the 2026-28 season: The College Rugby Association of America (CRAA) Division I 15s National Championship, the CRAA Premier Division 7s National Championships, and the USA Rugby Division I Club 15s National Championship.
Life struck first, crossing the try line just 3:30 into the match to make it 5-0. Dartmouth answered quickly, after a Dartmouth scrum in the middle of the field, the ball moved through hands until it found Cheng on the right wing who perfectly executed a chip and chase to score at 11:40 and tie the score at 5-5. Henrich converted moments later to give the Big Green its first lead of the day, 7-5.
Life regained the advantage on a try, but Dartmouth would not go away. Turagavou powered over for a try at the 30-minute mark, and Henrich followed with a conversion to push the Big Green in front, 14-10. Henrich added a penalty kick at 37:00, and Dartmouth carried a 17-10 lead deep into the first half.
Life answered with a try and a conversion in the closing minutes of the half to knot the score at 17-17 heading into the break.
From there, Life's depth took over. A pair of tries around a conversion put the Running Eagles up 17-34. Another try stretched the lead further before Henrich scored her second try of the afternoon, in the 64th minute, to keep Dartmouth within striking distance at 22-39.
Life closed out the match with two more tries to seal the 49-22 final.
