Fall Season Resumes for Women's Rugby at Harvard

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's rugby team hits the road for the first time this season on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., when it travels to Cambridge, Mass., to face Harvard in a National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) matchup at Mignone Field.

Last Time Out
The Big Green fell to Life University, 49-22, at Brophy Field on Saturday, Sept. 12, despite the match being tied, 17-17, at halftime. Annie Henrich led all Dartmouth scorers with 12 points on a try, two conversions and a penalty kick, while Lauren Cheng and Vasiti Turagavou each added a try. Cheng's score was her third of the season, tops on the team. Dartmouth opened the year with a 41-8 win over Army on Sept. 5 before dropping the tightly contested match with Life, moving to 1-1 on the season.

Recapping 2025
The Big Green went 5-3 last season, including a 4-2 record in NIRA play. Dartmouth advanced to the NIRA semifinals, where it fell to the eventual national champion Harvard, 45-10, at Mignone Field. Earlier in the year, Harvard also edged Dartmouth, 36-33, at Brophy Field in the regular-season meeting between the two sides.

Winning Tradition
Katie Dowty enters her 12th season as head coach, and the Big Green has won three NIRA championships (2022, 2021, 2018) during her tenure and has made it to the NIRA championship final six times, the most of any team. Dowty's record is 74-22, for a winning percentage of 77.32%.

Scouting Harvard
Harvard, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, enters the match as the defending three-time NIRA 15s national champion (2023, 2024, 2025) under 10th-year head coach Mel Denham. The Crimson opened their 2026 campaign with a 26-24 win over Sacred Heart on Sept. 5 and are 1-0 on the season. Harvard also closed the books on a strong 2025-26 7s campaign this spring, capturing the Ivy 7s championship and finishing third at the CRAA 7s National Championship.
