THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth field hockey team is back in Hanover for the first two home games of the 2016 season this weekend. The Big Green open its home slate at Chase Field Friday afternoon against Bryant before playing host to Pacific on Sunday afternoon.
AGAINST THESE TEAMS
Dartmouth's wildest game of the 2015 season came against Bryant at Chase. Trailing 2-0, the home team scored three goals in the final 8:12 of regulation to earn the one-goal win against its non-conference rival. Rebecca Hu '15 and Brooke Van Valkenburg combined for the trio of scores in the waning minutes with the latter scoring twice in that time.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS AND TIGERS
- Bryant: The Bulldogs will come to Hanover for two games this weekend as they take on Pacific Saturday afternoon. Coming into Friday's contest with the Green, Bryant has yet to register a win this season, dropping its first four matches of the fall season, including a pair of overtime defeats. Three of the four losses have been via the shutout with the Bulldogs' only score of 2016 coming from freshman Floor van Dommelen in a 2-1 OT loss to Yale on Monday afternoon.
- Pacific: The Tigers are basically moving their 2016 home base to Hanover this week as they play Saturday against Bryant, Sunday versus Dartmouth and Tuesday morning against Vermont. Prior to the three games at Chase, Pacific will play Harvard on Thursday afternoon in Cambridge with an 0-2 record to its credit. Four different players have scored the team's four goals to this point with Marguerite van Wyk leading the way in total points with four thanks to a score and a pair of assists.
CAREER DAY
Senior Heather Zezzo went to Orono on Monday and came home with a career-high four points. Zezzo scored once and added a career-high two assists to cap her best individual single-game output since coming to Hanover in 2013. The Jamison, Pennsylvania, native had four points in each of the last two seasons, a figure she matched in the Labor Day loss to the Black Bears.
CAREER DAY… ALSO!
Zezzo was not the only player to have a career day against Maine as fellow senior Joanne Nazareth scored twice in the contest. The midfielder from Wilton, Connecticut, had scored twice in an entire season as a sophomore and junior, but managed to find the back of the cage in the 32nd and 69th minutes, respectively in Orono.
IN THE CAGE
Head coach Amy Fowler used a pair of goalkeepers this weekend with sophomore Hailey Valerio getting the start against Albany, while freshman Emma Plumb got the nod in the Maine match. Neither played a complete 70 minutes as they gave way to the other in the second half of their respective starts.
ROOKIES SHINE
Dartmouth's first goal of the season came via the sticks of a pair of freshmen at No. 9 Albany. Carmen Braceras notched her first goal of the season in the 45th minute of play with classmate Katie Spanos earning the helper.

WHAT'S AHEAD?
