Undefeated Great Danes in Town
• Coming off a 35-point win over Division III Emerson College, Dartmouth faces a decidedly more difficult task with undefeated Albany in town on Thanksgiving Eve.
• This is the second of three straight home games before the Big Green embark on a five-game road swing that ends at Notre Dame on Dec. 19.
• All 13 active players saw court time against Emerson with 12 knocking down at least one field goal.
• Freshman Chris Knight led Dartmouth with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting while converting both of his foul shots in 16 minutes of action.
• Joining Knight in double figures were senior Taylor Johnson with 11 points and sophomore Brendan Barry with 10. Barry is the only player with at least 10 points in each of the first two games.
• As a team the Big Green shot just over 50 percent (28-of-55), something they managed just three times all last season.
• Dartmouth also topped 80 percent at the foul line both of the first two games and ranks seventh in the country at 82.9 percent. Yes, I know, it's early, but it still counts.
• The Big Green have handled the ball well to start the season, dishing out eight more assists than they have turned the ball over in each contest. Their ratio of 7.5 ranks seventh nationally.
• The victory moves head coach David McLaughlin one closer to 200 in his collegiate career, having won 189 at Division II Stonehill and now eight at Dartmouth in just over a year in Hanover.
Series vs. Albany
• These two teams have split eight prior meetings, but have squared off only once over the last 12 seasons, an 82-74 Great Dane victory on Dec. 23, 2011.
• The last three games in the series were in Albany, all Dartmouth losses, including the longest game in Big Green history, an 85-84, triple-overtime defeat on Jan. 25, 2003.
• Only two of the eight games have been played in Leede Arena, with Dartmouth winning both — 88-76 on Jan. 20, 2001, and 77-56 one year later.
• The Big Green are 117-109 all-time against current America East school having played all but one of the nine schools at least once (not UMBC).
Scouting the Great Danes
• Albany is off to a terrific start, with a road win at Boston University bookended with home victories over Iona (69-67) and Yale (80-72) before trouncing SUNY Oneonta on Monday, 102-77.
• The Great Danes have not had much success from long range, hitting just 17 in four games at a 30.9 percent clip, but have been deadly closer to the rim, shooting over 60 percent inside the arc.
• The team has also dominated the glass with a rebound margin of 14.5, led by Greig Stire with 7.8 boards per game.
• No fewer than three players are shooting better than 63 percent from the floor — Stire, Travis Charles and reserve Alex Foster — while David Nichols leads the team in scoring (16.5 ppg).
• Three others average in double figures as well in Charles (14.5), 3-point threat Joe Cremo (13.8, 7-of-15 3FG) and Stire (11.0).
• Albany is also accurate at the foul line, shooting 75.8 percent.
• The defense doesn't take many risks with just four blocks and 11 steals, but has been effective, holding opponents to under 30 percent from distance.
• Will Brown (Dowling '95) heads up the Great Danes, now in his 17th season with a career record of 264-238 entering this game. He has led Albany to five NCAA Tournament appearances and topped 20 wins each of the last three years.

First Win Comes by 35 Points
With its first win of the season, 78-43 over Division III Emerson College on Nov. 14, Dartmouth enjoyed its largest margin of victory since setting the program scoring record in a 121-56 triumph over another D-III school in Pine Manor on Jan. 16, 2016. The Big Green defense was the star of this game, however, holding the Lions scoreless over the final 8:30 of the first half. For the game, Emerson shot just 27.6 percent while turning the ball over 17 times. The last opponent to shoot worse than 30 percent was Old Dominion (.288) last Nov. 30.
Knight Court
Sorry, this isn't a note about a hilarious '80s sitcom. Rather it is about the shooting prowess of freshman Chris Knight, who led Dartmouth with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting in the 78-43 win over Emerson. In two games, the rookie is averaging 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game and shooting 68.8 percent from the floor.
Dirty Dozen
It isn't often a team has 12 players score in a single game, but Dartmouth accomplished the feat in the 78-43 win over Emerson on Nov. 14. The last time that happened? Well, it wasn't that long ago, which kind of weakens my point, but it last occurred against Columbia this past January. And on both occasions, the 12 players all had at least one field goal.
Helping Spirit
In each of the first two games, the Big Green have had a player hand out six assists. First, senior Taylor Johnson collected those dimes at Quinnipiac, then freshman Isaac Letoa passed out the helpers against Emerson. Six was the single-game high last year, which happened just three times.
Way-Too-Early National Rankings
Dartmouth finds itself near the top of the national statistical rankings in a few categories in the early going, most notably turnovers per game (7.5, seventh). Other top-15 rankings are in fewest fouls (32, second), fewest turnovers (17, second), assist-to-turnover ratio (7.5, seventh), free throw percentage (82.9, seventh), field goal percentage defense (33.9, 14th) and turnover margin (7.5, 15th).
Barry on the Boards
The Big Green got a surprising source of rebounds against Emerson as sophomore point guard Brendan Barry hauled in seven boards to lead the team. Eleven of the 13 Dartmouth players chipped in on the glass, nearly matching the group that scored at least two points.
