9/21/2017 1:58:00 PM | Athletics
The football team jumped out to a season-opening win while the volleyball team wrapped up tournament play before heading into the Ivy run. After missing a year due to injury, Jackson Perry returned to the field with a vengeance. The nose guard helped hold the Stetson offense to fewer than 100 total yards. Transfer Tori Dozier had 81 assists at the Holly Young Invitational.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Tori Dozier Fr., Raleigh, N.C., S, Volleyball
This past weekend, Dartmouth volleyball closed tournament play at the Holly Young Invitational, defeating Siena (3-0) while falling to Rhode Island (3-2) and UNH (3-0). Tori Dozier had a good weekend, accumulating 81 assists, 12 kills, six block assists and 15 digs.
Jackson Perry, Jr, Las Vegas, Nev., DL, Football
Jackson Perry (Las Vegas, Nevada) spearheaded a Dartmouth defensive effort that held host Stetson to less than 100 total yards, not to mention negative-three yards on the ground, in a 38-7 season-opening win on Sept. 16. The nose guard, who missed all but one quarter of football last year due to an injury, quickly made up for lost time with eight tackles, six solo, with 3.5 going for a loss, of which 1.5 were quarterback sacks. His presence in the Hatter backfield disrupted Stetson's offense all evening as the Big Green enjoyed their eight-straight victory on opening day, and eighth-straight win over non-conference opponents dating back to the 2014 campaign.
