Dartmouth Places Fourth at UNH Show, Two Points Back of Region Lead

The Big Green and Vermont battle next Saturday at Morton Farm with key regional points up for grabs.

DURHAM, N.H. – The Dartmouth equestrian team faced off against 10 other schools at University of New Hampshire on Saturday. After some tough competition throughout the day, Dartmouth placed fourth overall and is now currently in second place in regional point standings, just two back of Vermont.

With some tough rides in fences, Dartmouth went in with a strong force in flat. Freshman Sophie Kylander held back competition and was victorious in her Advanced Walk Trot Canter class. Following her, Alexa Tucker won her class of Beginner Walk Trot Canter.

Sophomores Emily Slusher and Sophia Kocher placed third in Intermediate Flat and Novice Flat, respectively. Senior Elizabeth Carroll and sophomore Yelyzaveta Begunova also had great rounds, with Begunova placing third in her Advanced Walk Trot Canter Class and Carroll third in her Beginner Walk Trot Canter class.

Senior Margot Putnam closed out the day with a strong first-place win out of eight riders, securing the points to tighten the margin in regional point standings. With two shows left in the season and Dartmouth and UVM almost neck-and-neck, next Saturday's home show at Morton Farm will prove to be of great importance with a lot in the balance.
