The start of the first set was close, but Princeton started to pull away and soon had a 9-4 advantage. Dartmouth picked up a few more points along the way, but three Tiger points in a row ended the first set swiftly (25-11).
Â
The Big Green found their stride in the second, jumping out to a 5-2 lead following two Princeton errors and kills by Petit (2) and junior
Carly Tower. Dartmouth continued to get further ahead and soon had a six-point advantage (13-7), but the home team started to close the gap, tying the score at 16-16. The Green fought to stay ahead, but could not hold on to the lead, and Princeton took over. Dartmouth continued to battle right until the end, getting within one point off a Tower kill, but the Tigers soon took set two (25-23).
Â
Princeton won the first two points of the third set and remained comfortably ahead until a 7-1 run from too many Tiger errors and a kill by freshman
Francesca Meldrum pulled Dartmouth within two (20-18). The home team had a small run of its own to get within two points of victory, and while a kill by Kott put the Green within striking distance again, a Dartmouth error ended the match (25-20).
