HANOVER, N.H. — Junior
Brendan Barry led four Dartmouth players in double figures with 18 points as the Big Green (5-5) cruised to a 78-52 victory over visiting Maine (1-9) at Leede Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore
Chris Knight added a double-double for Dartmouth with 17 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, while juniors
James Foye and
Ian Sistare contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively. The Big Green shot 50 percent (29-of-58) from the floor and 40 percent (6-of-15) from the perimeter to even its record on the season and take a 14-11 lead in the all-time series with the Black Bears.

Isaiah White led Maine with 18 points, but was just 6-of-19 from the floor as the Black Bears shot just 38.8 percent (19-of-49) on the afternoon and 23.5 percent (4-of-17) from long range.
Knight began the game with a bucket in the paint, and the Big Green never trailed all afternoon. Maine knotted the score twice in the first two and a half minutes, but sophomore
Adrease Jackson and Barry each hit 3-pointers during an 11-2 run as Dartmouth opened up an 18-9 lead after barely five minutes.
The difference oscillated between five and nine points for the next 10 minutes until Barry popped his second trey of the half for a 31-19 advantage and Sistare followed with three points the hard way. Twice freshman
Wes Slajchert boosted the Big Green lead to 17 in the final two minutes, the second time with a corner triple, which Maine matched to end the half with Dartmouth up, 41-24.
Barry and Knight led the way with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the Big Green drained 5-of-8 3-pointers and shot 57.1 percent (16-of-28) overall from the floor.
Â
In the second half, Dartmouth kept the Black Bears at arm's length (as you should with bears) as Maine never got closer than 11 points. Foye gave the Green their first 20-point lead with a pair of free throws and still 16:44 to play. The Black Bears did answer back with nine straight points with a pair of trifectas and three foul shots.
Junior
Will Emery ended the run with a nifty move to his left for a layup, followed by layups from Foye and Sistare. After Maine closed to within a dozen, Dartmouth finished the last eight and a half minutes by outscoring the Black Bears, 16-2.
Dartmouth continues its four-game home stand on Monday when Sacred Heart (4-5) comes to Hanover for the School Day game at noon that will have hundreds of middle schoolers in attendance. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Bob Lipman and Eric Berry calling the action, and fans can also listen over the airwaves or online to Brett Franklin and Bill Murphy on 94 ESPN Radio (94.3 and 94.5 FM) and at 945espn.com.
Notes: The 26-point win was the largest margin against a Division I opponent in almost exactly five years since a 76-46 victory over Jacksonville State on Dec. 14, 2013 … all five starters average in double figures this season for the Big Green, and those five accounted for all but seven points in this game … both Foye and Sistare were 5-of-6 from the floor, but neither attempted a 3-pointer despite each shooting over 53 percent from long range this year.
