• Juniors

Ian Sistare each hit 5-of-6 from and combined to go 7-of-7 at the foul line to chip in a total of 27 points in the win.
• All five starters are providing at least 10 points per game witih Barry second behind Knight at 12.7 ppg, followed by sophomore
Adrease Jackson (10.8), Foye (10.6) and Sistare (10.4).
• No team in the Ivy League has made more 3-pointers than Dartmouth (118), and the Big Green also have made the highest percentage of 3-point attempts (.428). Both figures rank in the top 10 nationally as well.
Series vs. Sacred Heart
• This is just the second meeting between the two teams on the hardwood and first in Hanover.
• In the initial showdown last year, the Pioneers got 19 points from Sean Hoehn to lead them to a 79-73 victory in Fairfield.
•
Chris Knight and
Brendan Barry each had 13 points to support
Taylor Johnson's 20-point outing, but Dartmouth trailed by eight at the half and as many as 18 midway through the second stanza before a late rally came up short.
• Dartmouth is 14-13 against current Northeast Conference schools, having played Bryant (4-3) and Central Connecticut State (4-2) more than any other programs in the league.
Scouting the Pioneers
• Sacred Heart has won two of its last three, defeating Hartford at home and Lafayette on the road, but is playing for the first time in eight days.
• The Pioneers have been very good at the offensive end, averaging 83.2 points while shooting 47.6 percent from the floor.
• Sean Hoehn pours in nearly 20 points a game with 28 3-pointers to his credit.
• Three others provide at least 10 ppg — E.J. Anosike (13.1), Aaron Clarke (10.8) and Jare'l Spellman (10.0) with the last one shooting a team-high 57.9 percent from the floor.
• Anisoke (7.9 rpg) and Spellman (7.6) and Kinnon LaRose (6.0) give the Pioneers are strong trio to crash the boards.
• Freshman Cameron Parker makes the offense go with 62 assists and just 27 turnovers, but he has started only twice and takes less than four shots a game.
• Even with all of this offense, Sacred Heart is playing without freshman Koreem Ozier, who scored 49 points in his first two collegiate games. He was suspended indefinitely for a violation of school policies.
• Anthony Latina (Brandeis '95), just the third head coach ever at Sacred Heart, is in his sixth season with a 59-106 record. He took over after spending eight seasons as an assistant, and was at Central Connecticut State for six years and UMass Lowell for four before that.
Big Win Over Maine
When Dartmouth defeated the visiting Black Bears on Dec. 8, it did so by 26 points (78-52), its largest victory against a Division I team since a 76-46 triumph over Jacksonville State on Dec. 14, 2013, almost exactly five years prior. The Big Green have two wins by wider margins this year, both of which came versus Division III squads — 75 against Newbury (114-39) and 46 versus Elms (100-54).
Starters Finish Off Black Bears
The Big Green starting five on Dec. 8 took care of nearly all of the offense, scoring 71 of the team's points in the 78-52 victory over Maine.
Brendan Barry led the way with 18 points,
Chris Knight had 17,
James Foye 14,
Ian Sistare 13 and
Adrease Jackson nine. But it wasn't the highest percentage of points by the starters this season with just six points coming from the bench in the 82-80 win over Loyola Maryland back on Nov. 11.
49 Percent Threshold
It seems that Dartmouth has set the bar for its shooting percentage at 49 percent in order to win a game. The Big Green shot exactly 50 percent from the floor against Maine in the 78-52 win, improving to 5-0 when shooting at least 49 percent. Below that mark and they are 0-5. Granted, the threshold could be 48 or 47 percent since the highest field goal percentage in a loss thus far is 46.4 percent at Davidson back on Nov. 9.
Knight Doubles Up
Not only did
Chris Knight score 17 points in the win over Maine, but he also seized a career-high 12 rebounds to lead Dartmouth to a 37-30 edge on the boards. It was his second career double-double, the other coming in the season opener against Newbury, also a Big Green win. The sophomore set another personal high-water mark with 19 field goal attempts and matched another with 34 minutes on the court.
Back to Even
The win over Maine evened Dartmouth's record at 5-5, the latest the Green have owned a .500 record after at least 10 games since the 2014-15 team ended the regular season with a 14-14 record before playing in the CIT. A win over Sacred Heart would boost Dartmouth over .500 after 11 games for the first time since the year prior when the 2013-14 team was 7-4.
Lighting It Up
• Dartmouth ranks fifth in the nation in 3-pointers made (11.8 per game) and seventh in percentage as a team (.428) after going 6-of-15 from the perimeter against Maine.
• The 118 treys are more than half of the Big Green total made all of last season (200) and puts Dartmouth on pace to hit 354, which would shatter the program record of 263 set in 2001-02.
• Dartmouth started the year with four straight games with at least 10 3-pointers, its longest such streak since a six-game stretch in 2002.
•
Brendan Barry ranks third in the country at 56.1 percent (32-of-57) behind the arc while
Ian Sistare (54.1) and
James Foye (53.8) have not made quite enough triples to qualify for the rankings.
• The Big Green hit 22 trifectas in the season opener, breaking the team record of 18 set in a win over Albany on Jan. 20, 2001.
• Dartmouth has had 15 or more 3-pointers in a game three times this season after reaching that total just four times previously since the 3-point line was instituted 31 years ago.
