THIS WEEKEND
This weekend marks the beginning of the 2018 season for the Dartmouth women's soccer team. The team starts with its home opener on Friday against the Quinnipiac Bobcats out of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, The Big Green will then take on Rhode Island on Sunday.
LAST SEASON
The Big Green finished 2017 with a 7-10 record and 1-6 in the Ivy League. Four conference losses came in overtime which was the difference in what could have been a top three finish for Dartmouth.
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
Qinnipiac comes into today having already played two matches. The Bobcats fell in their season opener 4-2 at Boston College before defeating Bryant 3-0 on Monday. Quinnipiac is led by Lauren Triglione who has two goals and one assist on the young season. Madison Borowiec, Gretchen Kron and Al Pelletier all have one goal each.
AGAINST THE BOBCATSÂ
Dartmouth and Quinnipiac have met twice before. The Bobcats took home a 3-1 win in the first ever meeting between the teams in Connecticut in 2010. Dartmouth evened the season series with a 4-2 victory in Hanover last season.
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
The Big Green travel to face the Rams in Kingston for their second game of the season on Sunday. URI fell in its first game 4-3 against New Hampshire in overtime. The Rams will make a short trip to play Bryant Thursday afternoon before Friday's match. Kelly Mayo scored twice for the Rams in their season opener, while Brooke Osmanski finished with one goal.
AGAINST THE RAMSÂ
Dartmouth and Rhode Island have met three times in the past, twice in the regular season and once in the NCAA Tournament. The Big Green took home two victories during the regular season in both 1985 and 1996. URI handed Dartmouth a tough season ending 2-1 overtime loss in the first round of NCAA's in 2002 the last time these teams met.
NEW FACES
Seven new names were welcomed to the program and they will now have the chance to see their first regular season game action. The group features four midfielders, two defenders and one forward.
