Dartmouth Picked 6th by Media, 8th by Coaches in ECAC Hockey Preseason Polls

ALBANY, N.Y. — The 2018-19 ECAC Hockey preseason polls and all-league teams were announced Wednesday morning by the league office.

In a vote by the conference's 12 head coaches, Dartmouth was tabbed eighth, while media members picked the Big Green sixth in their poll.

Cornell and Princeton were first and second, respectively, in both, while Clarkson was third in the media and fourth in the coaches' poll, the only other team to appear in the top-three of each.

Dartmouth finished last season fifth in the conference standings thanks to 23 points and an 11-10-1 league mark. In the hunt for a first-round bye until the last weekend of the season, the Big Green hosted and won a three-game first-round series against St. Lawrence before falling in three at No. 4 Harvard in the quarterfinal round the following weekend.

The Big Green bring back nine of their top-10 point producers from 2017-18, including juniors Will Graber (9-17-26) and Shane Sellar (11-11-22) who were first and second. Add in sophomore Quinn Foreman (8-11-19) — the team's fourth-leading scorer a season ago — and all three members of Dartmouth's "Timber Line" are back for the 2018-19 campaign.

A talented group of seven members of the Class of 2022 join a veteran team and will look to build on the unexpected success from a winter ago this year.

The season gets underway on Monday, Oct. 22 with a preseason home exhibition at the US National Team Development Program before the regular season starts Saturday, Oct. 27 against Harvard at Thompson Arena.
