PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Dartmouth women's swimming and diving returned to the pool for the first time in 2019 for its annual two-day Ivy tri-meet against Penn and Yale. The Big Green fell to the Bulldogs (244-56) and were narrowly defeated by the Quakers (161.5-131.5).

Dartmouth's divers opened the meet on Friday on the 1- and 3-meter diving boards. On 1-meter,
Maggie Pionzio finished highest for Dartmouth in fourth place (214.40). She was followed by Bella Lichen in sixth (201.55) and
Allison Green in seventh (184.90). It was a similar story on 3-meter: Pionzio (222.90) and Lichen (211.85) took fifth and sixth respectively, while Green was eighth (173.00).

To kick off day two, the Big Green placed third in the 200-yard medley relay (1:46.06), out-touching Yale by just over a tenth of a second. In the 1000-yard freestyle,
Mia Leko was fifth (10:21.86), while
Sarah Minnigh took ninth (10:30.46). A few events later, Leko was back in the 200-yard fly and finished in second place (2:04.08).
Ashley Post and
Summer Martin placed fourth and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with times of 1:52.97 and 1:53.61, respectively.

In the 100-yard backstroke,
Caroline Poleway,
Connie Zhang and
Susannah Laster touched in less than three-tenths of a second, being led by Poleway in eighth (59.23). Zhang was ninth (59.39) and Laster took 10th (59.50).
Mackenzie Stumpf came in second place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.93), touching three-tenths of a second ahead of Yale's Marykate Paoletti. Stumpf also took fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.09) and sixth in the 200-yard IM (2:08.54).

Swimming the 50-yard freestyle,
Zoe Wortzman came in fifth place (24.13) and Post was seventh (24.32). In the 100-yard freestyle, Martin touched in fifth place (52.45) and was followed by Post (52.65) and Wortzman (53.19). Poleway finished seventh in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.42). Minnigh competed in the 500-yard freestyle and finished in third place (5:02.03), while Leko took sixth (5:05.12). In the 100-yard fly,
Cathleen Li came in fifth place (57.05).

To end the weekend, Dartmouth came second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:30.75), finishing over a second ahead of Yale in third.

Next Friday, Jan. 11, the Green will take on Boston College on the road.
