Cape Air Athletes of the Week - Graber & Luce
11/11/2019 2:24:00 PM | Men's Ice Hockey, Women's Basketball, Athletics
As the fall winds down and winter looms on the horizon, the Big Green moves indoors to the hardwood and the ice of the hockey rink. The men's hockey team played rival Princeton on Saturday night and came away with a 3-1 win, thanks in large part to senior Will Graber who scored two goals in the victory. In Leede Arena Anna Luce had 20 points in a season-opening win over the University of Vermont.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Cape Air Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Cape Air Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Will Graber, Sr., Broomfield, Colo., F, Men's Hockey
After missing Friday's game against Quinnipiac, Will Graber returned to the lineup Saturday night and made an immediate impact, scoring the first goal of the night and adding the game winner late in the third period. For Graber, the game marked the 100th in his playing career, becoming just the 105th player in program history to reach the milestone mark and the first in recent memory to notch two in that contest. The first goal of the night against the Tigers is always a memorable one for Big Green fans inside Thompson Arena, but this one also served as the 25th career marker for Graber.
Anna Luce, Jr., Mercer Island, Wash., F, Women's Basketball
Anna Luce did it all for the Big Green Tuesday night in Dartmouth's, 72-55, season opening win over Vermont. The junior finished with 20 points on 9-11 from the field and was 2-3 from 3-point range. Luce did more than just score, she finished with six rebounds, two blocks, two steals and an assist. From Mercer Island, Washington, Luce combated Dartmouth's slow start in the first quarter by scoring 10 of the team's 12 points in the opening stanza. It was Luce's second career 20-point game, she previously had a career high 22 points at Brown on February 1 of last season.
